    Smelling gas at my Job
Hi. I work at safeway and we use gas to heat our equipment(fryers, ovens, etc). For the past 2 weeks I've been smelling natural gas and it comes and goes. I've told my boss(Store manager/assist manager/manager on duty) and they won't do anything about it. The assistant store manager told me "The gas you are smelling is suppose to be there. This way when you have a leak, you'll know what it smells like." I'm going to the fire department tomorrow to ask them a few questions.

This happened AFTER a wind storm and burst a natural gas pipe 6 blocks away.

Call the utility that supplies the gas. They will come out and check for it. A comment "it's supposed to be that way" could become a FATAL statement!

The Fire Marshall should be called to investigate this ongoing gas leak or your local fire department will happily check it out also. There should be no leaks ever in a gas system.
