    Stop Joking!
I have a 9 year old sister, she claims she sees a grey or black mist at the corner of her eye a lot,but looks like a person in a corner of a room wrapped up holding on to their knees crying. She also says she sees "Shadow People" when she is trying to sleep.I tell her to stop joking but this has actually been going for a long time now, like since she was 6 years old.Our parents and I can't see them but she can."There are also weird whispers or popping noises too!"she says.Im So CONFUSED!

Well I will be quite honest people like to jump on the paranormal bandwagon to explain some of the unexplained. Very well could be she is experiencing these things they might or might not be real.

Now for the hard part. There might be medical explanations for this too. It is better to rule it out. Has she had eye examinations to rule out any eye problems. Has she had her ears checked by a specialist? There might be things going on. I would advise her getting checked over medically just as a precaution.

At the same time, children experiencing things that other people can not hear or see. Many more people today have had experiences of what some call medium ship, or psychic abilities and to be denied that those are real or somebody is joking is not a good approach either.

Why is it so important to you that she be wrong or joking with you? Lots of children have imaginary friends and others see things and grow up to be schizophrenic, and who knows, even though I don't believe in ghosts maybe she is more spiritually aware. Let her be. If she pesters you, tell her to stop. If she's scared, comfort her. If she gets to a state where she can't go to school or have friends or fun, then she needs to be checked out by a MD.

A very good theory as to why children have these experiences more than others is because they are so easily susceptible, manipulated and affected by these things. While some natural explanations can be offered I do tend to believe them more times than now. Quite frankly spirits can manifest how they want when they want and to whom they want whenever they choose. My daughter experienced something one night that I didn't see, but I saw how it was affecting her. Though I couldn't see it I still took authority over it and made it leave. I feel for your sister since she seems to be alone in this. Not only can it be hard for a child to experience these things, but to feel like nobody believes her must simply add to it. This is the world of spirit and you very well may never see something... I suggest you allow yourself to be open to this possibility... at least giving your sister someone to talk to about it. May I ask the religious background of your parents?

I think firstly you should get your parents to check out her eyesight, just to be sure that she can see properly and that there really is no retina damage to her eyes, this could cause dark spots where perhaps her vision is incorrect, her brain if this is the case could make imaginary shapes out of the dark spots she says she sees... a bit like when we lie in bed looking out of the window at clouds, we can make all kinds of things in our imagination. However I am sure that your parents would have had her eyes checked on a regular basis, but it's worth mentioning again.

Go along with what she is saying for now,ask her to draw what she sees every time something appears, keep all the pictures.
Make a diary of what day, the time, what part of the house she was in, and what kind of mood she was in at the time. There may be a pattern to these experiences, which after a while may show in the logging of these events.

Find out the history of your house: who lived there, did they have children, were there issues with any of the previous families that lived there, were there any deaths that may also have included children and so on.

This may be the answers to some of these events. If there is a link between all the things from your sister that you have logged and the previous history you might have some answers.

If however nothing links at all, your sisters sight etc.. Is fine, but she is still experiencing these events, then I personally would either see your local vicar and maybe get him to pay a visit to your house or the other option if you really need to sort this out is speak to a reputable medium... check references in this instant, there are many fakes.

These are my oppinions, obviously the choices I have given would be your own decision.
