    Visitation rights as an aunt.
My soon to be sister in law does not allow me to see my nephew. I have seen him every week since he was born. We have always had a great relationship. This all began when she I mentioned to her that I invited her step daughter(my niece) to my sons 3rd birthday. I let her know in advance because my niece needed to be accompanied by an adult being that she is 4 and I didn't want any issues at the party. She became irate and said I had to choose between my niece and nephew and that if I didn't to forget my nephew existed. She has since then cut off all communication with me and refuse to answer any text messages and phone calls. I miss my nephew and my son even asks for him. What can I do being that she eants nothing to do with me? I thought she would get over it in time but she hasn't.

I moved this from the children forum. Normally I would have moved it to Family Law since you asked about rights. But since there are no visitation rights for Aunts your only option is to repair the damage between you and your sis-in-law.

I am a little confused since you mention a niece and nephew. So please clarify, who is the father of these children and what is he doing about the rift? Was the niece invited to this party and not the nephew?

They are both my brothers children, my niece is from a previous relationship, and from his recent. They were both invited and that is why I am no longer allowed to see my nephew. My brother is out of state working and I know if my brother says anything it will just make issues for them.

This is still confusing. The niece is from a previous relationship and the nephew is from his current relationship? Does he have custody of both? She's mad because you invited both?

Is your brother married to this woman?

My brother does not have custody of his daughter. He is marrying my nephews mother at the end of this month. She is upset because I invited both and felt that my loyalty should have been to her and my nephew. She stated my niece shouldn't have been invited because I knew her mother would have to bring her because she's only 4.
