    Lupus and Primary Biliary Cirrhosis
I have had lupus for 16 years and I have developed stage 2 primary biliary cirrhosis. What symptoms should I look for as a sign it's progressing?

As destruction of bile duct and liver cells progresses in Primary Biliary Cirrhosis certain attendant conditions may develop, including jaundice, irregular skin discoloration, digestive problems, fluid retention and fatty (cholesterol) deposits, according to the Mayo Clinic.

A more detailed outline of possible progressive symptomatology is provided by the National Digestive Diseases Information Clearinghouse under What are the complications of primary biliary cirrhosis?

If we can be of further assistance, just ask.

What does end stage primary biliary cirrhosis look like?
I am currently at Stage II and I would like to know what symptoms I would experience when the scarring progresses.

First, I am sorry to hear that you are dealing with this horrible disease. I have recently had a family member who went through it.

The later stages will bring Jaundice, swelling - especially in the ankles, it can also create a distended belly. The family member I spoke of had over a liter of liquid pulled from her abdomen.

Diarrhea, cramping, and bloating make dealing with the disease day-to-day even worse. Immodium AD Advanced (with Gasx) is a lifesaver. The family member called Gas X strips that melt in your mouth "magic sticks". She would be relieved within minutes. I truly thank God for that relief I was able to give her. You can also help this issue by eating plain yogurt every day - no sugar, no flavoring. It's tart, but you get used to it and it is a MIRACLE.

Additional problems include itchy skin, skin with dark blotches from changes in skin coloring. More and more fatigue. Lots of sleeping. Aches and pains.

From a natural health perspective, you should research Milk Thistle. Please, do your own due diligence, but there is some valid evidence this ingredient can help the liver.

I wish my best to you. God bless.
