    Adoption process?
How long does it take to finalize an adoption?
Is it finalized the day I signed the papers or is it finalized once the birthfather signs papers as well?

Also does anyone know where the court proceeding would go on if
The child was born in Ny but now
Has been in Illonois for about 4 months??

An attorney needs to really give you that info for your area, if the state is invovled there has to be home inspections and then a final hearing before the judge. But it is not final until the judge signs the adoption paperwork.

But again even at "final" there are many cases where the mother and esp the father have challenged adoptions several years latter and won, so final is not truly a legal word in adoptions.

    You need a lawyer.

Adoption is "finalized" when the court recognizes the adoptive parents as the legal parents of the child... generally 6 months after the child is placed with them, but that varies from state to state.

If you have signed away your rights (which I seem to remember you have, from another thread), the ONLY way you will get them back is to prove coercion. You need a lawyer.

The biological father (if I remember correctly) just recently found out that the child is his. He needs a lawyer.

Which state has jurisdiction will be determined by which state has jurisdiction over the child... probably the state the child was born in, but not necessarily.

    GET A LAWYER.
