What can I add to 'cheap' paint
I have loads of the cheap acrylic paint that cost like $1.00 for 2 oz. Is there a cheap way to make it more paste like? I bought modeling paste but it's not really cheap. Im looking for texture so that I can use knife. Keep in mind I want it to hold up like the good stuff. Any ideas?

May have some ideas if you tell me what you want to use it for. I used to use sand to give more texture to be able to use, not with a knife, but a spatula. I don't know what you mean by hold up like the good stuff. Starving artists use many things that 'hold up under scrutiny'.

Does that give you some ideas ?

I paint on canvas and really like the good tubes of acrylic paint(really thick rich paint) but I like to use big blobs of paint, (which as you may or may not know gets expensive fast) you know the 3d look. Flowers popping off the canvas, what I mean by hold up is that one day it won't fall off the canvas in chunks.

Does this help explain my question?

Yes, so try the sand with your cheap acrylics and find out how it works. It is all about experimenting, many times over, until you get it right. That is what I found. However, don't do acrylics anymore, graduated to watercolour, don't do that anymore and graduated to stained glass.
