You need confidence and a positive, sparkling attitude when you are modeling at 12.
Forget those older models who look so serious and blasé and cosmopolitan.
Back straight, head up, look at each judge, smile (but not every second with a big fake grin), keep it natural, just look really glad to be there. Sip a little water so your mouth isn't dry if you are nervous.
Practice at home in front of a full length mirror and family, putting one foot confidently directly in front of the other but not as though you have to pee, you know - once again, keep it natural.
Practice where your hands will be. At your sides, loosely, raise one to your waist and then to your lapel when you turn or have to take off a jacket or sweater, decide whether a casual item goes over your shoulder or a more dressy one is draped over your arm. If nothing to remove, just let them hang and don't be self conscious about them!
Turn your head a little like a ballet dancer does when turning, but again, without overdoing it.
