I justgot my cartilage peirced a 1 1/2 days ago. And it is hurting. But even though it hurts to touch I still clean it and twist them. When will the pain stop?

You shouldn't twist your earring, it opens the wound a little more and creates more scar tissue. It will throb and be uncomfortable for around a week or two. Just make sure you try to keep your hair away from the new piercing, only touch it when cleaning (but keep touching with fingers to a minimum due to bacteria under the nails) and try your best not to sleep on it.

I found advil helped. I took one just before I got mine pierced and then had to take one before bed (I fell asleep on the other side but would always manage to end up on the pierced side) for a couple nights. An ice pack might help too.

For the swelling just take some over the counter ibuprofen. It will go down eventually.

I have to ask. Did you get the piercing with a gun or a needle?

With what is said about the twisting issue is twisting is needed for some people. I had my ear bond to my earring an it had to be removed I was told to twist it once in a great while. An I do agree with minimal touching of the ear with your hands. And do not use rubbing alcohol I did that an found out its not a good idea. Rubbing alcohol eats away at the jewelry an dries out your skin. Try cleanign it with a cotton balls they are cheap just about anywhere.

Where exactly do cartilage piercings go through? [ 1 Answers ]

I'm getting my cartilage pierced tomorrow and I'm a bit anxious. A friend of mine told me they deliberately miss the cartilage and just go through the fleshy-skin part above the cartilage... contrary to what I've heard. Is she right or not and where exactly does the piercing go through?

Cartilage [ 5 Answers ]

I just got my cartilage pierced about 4 days ago by a friend. It didn't really hurt that bad until now. It's a little red, but not swollen or anything like that. It just stings really bad. I don't know what I should do because my parents don't know about the piercing. Is there anything I can do...
