    Medical marijuana in NC
I am curious and need to know how the reps in district 5 in NC are voting on the bills for Medical Marijuana, for the legalization of marijuana, and for the penalties if any for being caught with marijuana. Is there anyone out there who lives in NC that know this information. It is part of research as to how I will vote and who I will vote for in 2012. Thank you Beccie

I'm a little confused - this info is all over the Internet (as reps change from this side to that side). You are actually in NC. Isn't this information publicized there?

Hi and thank you for responding. I did find out the answer to the penalties for MJ on the NORML site. However as you say, the reps flip flop and I am trying to gather information as to how the reps in District 5 feel about the usage of MJ for health issues as an alternative to taking 10 pills a day. I am a sufferer of Fibro, IBS oh I don't want to bore you with those details, but, I did find information that looks like MMJ would work for me. I would like to know what the reps have to say about the issue and who is for and who is against. With my disabilities, and I am on disability, I have not been able to find specifics for each rep. I have been researching this for 2 days now and maybe I just am not asking the computer the right question. So I decided to see if someone knows this info and can share it with me. Again thank you for responding to the questions. Beccie

It is an issue that I doubt you can know how they will vote till the acutal vote, you can not ever go by what they say during elections. Plus at the time of vote other issues as to deals made on other issues, or if this bill is piggy backed with other laws to help pass or even to help fail.

But your best would be to contact the election head quarters and see if they will give you a answer. ** most likely give you run around but you never know

First, thank you for responding, and you are absolutely right. From what I hear, Obama, went back on his promise to take it out of Fed. Hands. And they will flip flop. I guess I just will have to wait and see at this point. Thanks again for your response. B

    Hello Beccie:

Your state senator is Louis Pate. He's a Republican. You can reach him at [email protected].

Annie Mobley represents district 5 House of Representatives. She's a Democrat. You can reach her at [email protected]

The North Carolina State House and Senate are controlled by Republicans, so I wouldn't be holding my breath that they'd pass a medical cannabis law.

    Hello again, B:

I don't know if BOTH legislative districts are numbered the same way. All you gave us was #5, and those are the two #5's.

The vote has to be a majority. That means SOME right wing Republicans have to risk being labeled "soft on drugs" in order to vote for it. That's not going to help a Republican win re-election.
