    Virus made in 1980?
    I got a virus on my computer lately, it was a Fake AV-FS. The virus file itself said it was last modified on 13/03/1980 at 00:03
    I wasn't even born then let alone had a computer!
    Can anyone explain that to me?
    Was the virus made in 1980 or something?
    If anyone knows anything about this virus, what is it programmed to do? It corrupted a load of my files, is that all it is set up to achieve or was it supposed to do something else?

    Most fake anti-virus programs are designed to try and get the user to "purchase" the software and thus steal credit card information.

    Also, the "last modified" information can easily be modified to be any date/time.

    Hey,

    First Reboot into Safe Mode with Networking.

    To get to Safe Mode restart the computer, and as soon as the computer starts, begin to tap the F8 key until the boot menu appears. Use the arrow keys on the keyboard to select Safe mode, and then press Enter. If prompted, log on as administrator.

    Then you will need to find and remove all infected files. Here is Free spyware scanner Downloload Remove what it found (with program or manual) and reboot your PC.

    You should reconsider the Antivirus software that you use.
