If you double the first equation, you can then add the two equations together and the y-terms will cancel. That will allow you to solve for x. Once you know x, you can just substitute its value into either of the equations, and solve for y.

I can help YOU solve it, but I can't do your homework FOR you.
It'll just take a second if we work through it together. :)
What do you get when you double the first equation? (In other words, multiply every term by two).

Multiply first equation by 2
Then add them or simplify the two equations
-3x-3y=-6
==>-6x-6y=-12
+x+6y=-8
__________
-5x=-20
Divide both sides by -5
x=4 (Ans-1)
Substituting value of x in Ans-1 in the second equation.
4+6y=-8
Now, you will get after simplifying it as
y=(-8-4)/6=-2
Thus, y=-2 (Ans-2)
Check both the answers with the given equation, both sides of each equation must satisfy.

pinkey1995, what I'm telling you, is to post at one time only when possible and not many times in a row.
