    EtG test coming up
Hi dr bill, if I drank 14, 5oz glasses of wine thurs between the hours of 12 noon and 12 am, stopping all consumption at 12am, would I be good to go on the EtG test Monday afternoon at 3pm. This would be 87 hrs after the last drink. But takeaway 14 hours to get bac to 0 and that leaves me 73 hours. I am male, 46 years old, weigh 187 lbs. thanks for any help you can afford me...

    1) Despite my many concerns about EtG testing, I cannot become complicit in a design to assist you in avoiding the legitimate ends of the test: The detection of surreptitious drinking. And

    2) The amount of alcohol (14 drinks) is in uncharted territory in the literature. The greatest amount covered is 9 standard drinks and the range for clearance in that situation was 40-102 hours. Your consumption is 8.4 oz of pure ethanol and that volume effects metabolism in many different and unpredictable ways.

Consumption in that range is generally dangerous. That type of drinking pattern is dangerous. I believe you would be better off to focus on ways and means to overcome this practice rather than support it.

I do thank you for your insight, Dr. Bill, and I do believe that that pattern of drinking is self destructive. The 14 glasses of wine were drank over a period of 12 hours, spaced out. I believe some of the alcohol would have metabolized along the way. 5 glasses were drank, then a rest of 4 hours. Then 9 glasses were drank in the remaining 8 hours, spaced out as well. I am not even scheduled for an EtG test but am wondering because it has become popular in the workplace.
