Can anyone give me the equation for the following please?

25 ml of iron(II) solution were pipetted into a conical flask, 5 ml of concentrated sulphuric acid were added and 1g of bicarbonate was added rapidly. What reacts with what and can you give me the equations associated with thereactions please?

Have you ever carried out this experiment? That would have helped you a lot.

If not, you've got to think.

Do you think that iron (II) will react with concentrated sulfuric acid? If it does, what are the possible products?

Do you think that iron (II) will reach with the bicarbonate? What would happen if it does?

Do you think that sulphuric acid will react with the bicarbonate? What do you think would happen if it does?

Give it some thinking, and bring out hypotheses, in case you didn't do the experiment. :)

Now, if you didn't, you could ask your teacher to give you the necessary reagents to try out the experiment yourself, with the aid of the proper personnel, if required since you'll be handling concentrated sulfuric acid.

I have my own idea of what can happen, but I never did the experiment as such, and as you might guess, theory is sometimes very different from practice.
