    My hair is orange!
Its been about 2 to 3 months now that I've had this hair dye in my hair and its driving me crazy I am a natural black with little strands of red but I tried to dye my hair mid brown HORRIBLE IDEA it turned out orange now the dye is about down to the top of my neck half black half orange! It looks really bad is there anyway for me to get this dye out now or is it to late to should I just wait for it to fade?

Try using a hair color remover. Keep in mind that when you use a hair color remover, you will need to re-color your hair in order for it to look natural.

You can always tone the orange. Toners that are green will balance the orange to a nice brown. Think like a painter. To make a nice brown you need RED + YELLOW (orange) +BLUE (green) right? TO make it warmer you need to add warmer colors depending on what tone of brown you want, to make it cooler you need to add blues purples greens. Any cooler color to tone down the warm ones. Sebastian makes a very good toner in a green called Balanced Brown but there are other browns that have the name neutral brown, warm brown etc. that I have not tried. WHen I dye my hair myself and it comes out redder than I like I use the sebastian to balance it out.

My natural hair is black and I have had various shades brown hair forever, at one point it was orange also (the very beginning when I did it myself and some other inexperienced hair dressers did to me). Do not dye it black, dying it just COVERS the color and doesn't really correct it adding more damage to your hair, also black is a pain in the butt to take out if you don't like it. OR if you don't want to do this yourself go to the salon and ask for color correction or a coating some places have different named for this such as tint/color treatment/vegeta etc. it is a semi permanent coat of color that adds more shine and color to your hair depending what you want. You can only choose darker shades than your hair color or the same color but never lighter, it tones your hair to the color you want, it fades after 1-2 months but it is much healthier than dying it over. I do this every time my hair fades and gets brassy.

Using an ash color with a green base will neutralize red tones in the hair. A blue base color will neutralize unwanted orange tones. The topic starter will need to chemically strip her hair to create an even base, and then deposit the selected color.
