Maytag Proforma dryer not heating up...
I have a Maytag Proforma dryer (electric) that is not heating up.
I poked around here a bit and installed a brand new vent on the dryer.
The vent blows like a champ now but it still is not heating up.

I put the dryer on the Timed Dry cycle and it didn’t warm up there either.
I figured this setting would not care if there was wet clothes in there, if it does let me know and I’ll try it with wet clothes in there.

    Any help would be great!
    TIA

You will need an ohm meter to check your element and thermal switches. More than likely one of these are the culprit.

If this is the case... is this something I can fix myself or am I just better off getting a serviceman in now?

Very easy to repair yourself after you verify what needs to be replaced and neither is very costly.

You need an ohm meter. Place a probe on each end of the element. It should rean infinity. The same with eack end of the thermosts. The one that doesn't read inf. Is bad. Replace that part. You con pick them up a appliance parts house. Before testing remove the wires that are attached to them first. Also. Be sure to UNPLUG the power source to dryer first.

OK... I think I found the issue.

Should I be happy the house didn't burn down?
    Fixable by me?
Anything else potentially ruined because of this?

The connection could have been loose at the eyelet and arching could have caused this. Did you put a new eyelet on this? Is it now heating?
