    My Ex Boyfriend is clingy
Me and my boyfriend dated for about a month and then broke up for a month and then dated for a month and a half and broke up again a few weeks ago. He is getting really attached to everyone around him and he won't leave me alone. He keeps telling me that we ARE best friends, but I don't want to be his BEST friend. I just want to be friends and talk every once and a while. How can I tell him to back off without hurting his feelings?

P.S. He is a really sensitive person. His last ex took him like two or three months to get over. I can't wait that long.

Don't be so available, and sometimes you just have to be bluntly honest about your own feelings.

You need to tell him how you feel and leave it up to him how he handles that.

You're not responsible for his feelings or reactions.

I've been in this situation and from personal experience, you should be a little patient with him. I don't think it's fair to him to expect two things. Either you stay his really good friend, or you don't be there at all. It's hard to ask someone to be "kind of your friend" after dating them. I know it can be obnoxious to wait for him to get over you but staying in his life isn't helping.
