Do responses to discovery & requests for discovery have to be filed with the Court?
Representing ourselves in a civil case in TX. Do responses and/or requests have to be filed with the Court? Or just sent to opposing counsel? Today I tried to file them, but was told "they usually don't accept responses" by the clerk? Is there a form I should have sent?
    Thank you!

It generally is just sent to opposing counsel. That's probably why the clerk wouldn't accept them. The discovery requests you are responding to probably weren't filed either.

Discovery in civil cases is very broad. The information may not be admissible at trial. That's one reason it's not filed in court. The court simply doesn't need all that paperwork.

If one party or the other feels that the discovery information received wasn't adequate, that party would then file a motion with the court to require the other party to disclose more information. At that time, what was received by the moving party might be attached to the motion so that the judge could know what the argument is about.

    No problem. That's what I do. :)

I looked at the YouTube video. Interesting. You might want to make it a link by wrapping the appropriate code around it. See "insert link" and the "Tube" buttons at the top of the advanced edit page.
