    Jail relocation
My cousin has been in jail for the past several years and just been moved to a further location. My aunt, her mother is sick and cannot travel very far to visit her. Is there anyway to ask for her to be moved back closer to home so that she can visit her more often?

Sure, she can ask... but she's incarcerated. What's convenient for her or her family isn't as important as what is convenient for the penal system is. If it gets considered at all depends on if she's been a model prisoner or not.

    Hello f:

Sure there is. The first thing to do would be to obtain a copy of the prison system's policy manual. There's probably something in there about prisoners being close to home if possible.

You must realize that just because they have a rule saying she must be near her family, that doesn't mean they obey it. She'll have to FORCE the administration to obey their own rules, and that probably will take a concerted effort on her behalf fighting the bureaucracy using her administrative remedies. Hopefully, she'll know HOW to do that. If not, there's some jail house lawyers in there who do. She'll need to engage one.
