Where does it stand? I am "guessing" there's a Court Order and the person has been cited for contempt?

Need to know more about circumstances.

    Where is the case open?

These matters make my hair stand on end - that's a really big chunk of money.

Has no one attempted to collect from him? Have you tried - or do you have - a Judgment against him? Some States will allow you to get a Judgment and the file liens of garnishments.

Sorry for the questions but it seems every question leads to another question.

A dead beat father who has managed to avoid paying what he owes for 28 years is probably pretty immune to collection. He probably works off the books and only works as much as he needs to. He probably has no assets or anything that can be attached.

You have given us very little to go on, hence the guesswork. You have told us nothing of what attempts have been made to collect or why they have failed. Without such info, you reduce us to guessing or trying to extract info from you that we can use to help.
