My scanjet 8350 won't work when I try to scan a image.

My scanjet 8350 won't work when I try to scan a image, it will say the scanner is not connected. While I am sure it is and correctly. I tried multipele usb cords and reinstalled the drivers a few times even with hp software and the adobe software it won't work. Sorry for the bad spelling.
