    Scammers/ fraud
    I am currently receiving emails from I suspected scammers they have sent me a cert saying they will pay me 550,0000 pounds as I have won a promotion from their company I want to know my legal rights and if proven they are trying to scam me what I am entitled to as I believe I may be a potential victim of crime.

    If you haven't sent them any money, you aren't a victim.

    This is a common phishing scam, just delete the emails.

    If you were entitled to anything just for receiving an email saying you won money, I'd be a millionaire. I get at least one of these types of emails a day.

    Don't contact them, don't send them money, just delete.

    It's not an advertisement, it's called a phishing scam.

    Scams and advertising are two different things.

    Are you HONESTLY telling us you have never seen, read or heard about these scams before.
    They have been doing the rounds for several DECADES!!

    It is neigh on IMPOSSIBLE to take any form of legal action against these "people" as they are largely untraceable.

    You do realise that almost 90% of all e-mail traffic is SPAM of one sort of another.
    Now that is a staggering volume amounting to TENS of BILLIONS of messages A DAY!!

    So give up with this short sighted "crusade" as it is doomed to fail.
    Simply delete the mail and move on.

    I don't think the OP believed in this. He knew it was a scam. What is shocking is that he thinks he can get something out of this on the grounds of false advertising. I must admit it's a new wrinkle, but one that is ridiculous and shows no real understanding of the laws or the situation.

    I'd make a better argument trying to sue the cops for busting me after they sold me pot.

    (of course, this is all ficticious) but hey false advertising right ;)
