I think that I may have a ghost!
I just moved into the house that I am living in about 3 months ago. Every since then my daughter, who is almost 8, wakes up every night between 10:30 and 11:30. She never is all the way wake and she never remembers the next morning. Last night I caught her before she came out of her room. I was in her bathroom when I heard her moaning and I went in her room to find her about 3 inches away from her T.V. holding her blanket in one hand and her sheet in the other hand. I asked her what she was doing and she mumbled something about her friend and helping. When I asked her what she was talking about she acted like she did not day anything! I don't know what to do or if there is anything to really worry about. All I know is that she is doing something like this every night and I can't help her at all! If anyone can give me some light on the subject that would be greatly appreciated!

She may be sleepwalking and sleeptalking.

This is a very common thing to do especially at your daughters age. Its caused by your brain being active - usually through dreaming - and failing to paralyse the limbs and mouth during sleep. Often when people sleep walk and sleep talk they do not remember it the morning after.

If she is sleepwalking and talking due to dreams she is having then the fact she always does this at the same sort of time is to do with her sleep patterns, since your dreams work in 90 minute cycles, so if she normally goes to sleep at the same time then, she will begin to dream around the same times every night.

Its dangerous to wake a sleepwalker so never try to wake her from this, but try making a note of when she does this and see if you can make any links, perhaps to things she has eaten? Some foods like cheese can cause dreams.

Did you ever consider asking her, just casually the morning after, what she dreamt the night before? Maybe she's dreaming about helping her friend.

I hope this makes sense and helps put your mind at ease!

Well the only thing is that after the event with her,. I started to have some of my own experiences last night. Nothing to major but definitely un-nerving. It might all be in my head!

My daughter is now 20 yrs old and still sleep walks. She walks around talking, eyes open, alert but sound asleep. If I would try to wake her she would cry or throw like a tantrum. She acts out her dreams and is completely awake. Really strange to witness. I found out over the years to get door chimes that will ring if the door is open during the night so she doesn't take off on you. Then when you see her up walking around tell her she is having a dream and to go to bed. Gently guide her back to her bed without waking her up. My daughter on occasion also has night terrors. This is where she wakes up screaming! So loud that at first I thought someone broke in my home and was hurting her. Only to find her acting out a bad dream of someone attacking her. This usually occurs when she has had an exhausting day or had stressed out over something. Her physician told us that this does occur with some people and they can medicate, but we have dealt with this without medication. She knows her problem and when she slept anywhere I notified parents what to do should this occur. This started when she was about 2 years old and she is now 20 and still has occurrences from time to time. Hope this helps.
