    Childhood book
I read this book in the 60's when I was in elementary school, it could even date back to the 40's or 50's . About a little girl named Katrinka? Or Katrina who lived in a forest. There came a terrible storm in the night and caused a huge tree to fall that allowed her to cross to the other side of the forest. There she found a dwarf's abandoned cottage where she befriended a little bear who she cooked and cared for. Can you help be find the title/copy of this book for my grandchildren? It's a wonderful story.

Does anyone know this disturbing book from my childhood (2/2) [ 1 Answers ]

In my elementary school library there was a book in which, if I recall correctly, orphans lied in a big clear cage and had to eat pellets out a dispenser, use a toilet that was positioned in the middle of a bridge, etc. Anyone what it was?
