    1998 sportster 1200
    My sportster was clicking so I took the battey out and charged it.when I put it back in it wouldn't do anything.the headlight works and the battery shows 12.66 volts.it won't start,not a sound.the horn and signals won't work and neither will the brake light.all worked before.please help.

    See if there is a loose wire near battery. Never can tell, also could be a fuse.
    A $5 test light can make short work of this.

My 2006 Harley sportster will not start. The speedomoter light turns on and appears to run in reverse for a few seconds. No other lights turn on at all. The battery and fuse are OK. It appears that the battery arched some how because the negative post has some burning. Any suggestions?
