I have heard a lot of people talk aboute some style called "emo" at school. Afraid of sounding like a complete moron, I ask all you people at ask me helpdesk:

It's a series of amusing videos about a girl called Hope who conforms to the "emo" stereotype. The first couple are the most amusing. It will give you an idea of the emo stereotype. |

I know Emo as being short for Emotional.. its the current style craze for school-age kids.
Bascicall they all hate pink, love black and listen to depressing music... lol OK that's purely a stereotype, but this site will really help you out in understanding better; What the heck *is* emo anyway? I remember a year or so ago I was curious myself as to how Emo kids identify themselves.. this site gives a good explanation.. and its kind of funny too... Enjoy |

Emo: The Emotional-Punk Movement | Intro
Another site I googled... I tend to view Emo as a complete style, not just the music. Some people try to say Emo's are just gothic, but I strongly disagree. To me emo is basically a trend of Punk... I am not really sure what the difference is though... hah. Emo's are more outwardly emotional with their expressions... You see guys and girls with dark eye makeup trying to look sad or just dramatic... From what I can tell Emo's are not supposed to look happy... Weirdness... Ok well good luck on better understanding Emo.. I personally don't take to the style. |

I'm personally no expert, but my step brother is emo and so I asked him and he said that they are people who take whatever emotions that they feel to an extreme... not just sadness or anger, but any kind of emotion that they feel. They express it by either sulfing in their bedrooms all the time (if their sad), hanging out with their friends and doing things that are fun (if they're happy) or just doing nothing (if their boared). I know it sounds contradictory to a lot of the responses that you've gotten previously, but this is almost word for word from someone who is emo... (hope that helps)

Haha. Emo nowadays is actually what hipstergoth was 10 years back. Emo 10 years back were all nice kids with tiny t-shirts, shpants and rode bicycles in the sunshine. You'd go to shows and be shy and cute. Ah those were the days :) that's why all those celebrity people being called "emo" are against it. Cause they're hipstergoths and they know it!

An Emo, where I go to school at least, is a person who cuts themselves. Usually because of depression, or they just are sick of life, I guess. Some of them do dress in what is considered the Gothic culture.

emo doesn’t always mean someone who cuts themselves or someone who is 'emotional', okie it can mean a certin type of music about broken hearts and the pain of the world also it came from the 80's hard core music, emo pomes are cool because they are rebelious of the law and they generaly have a realy good point...emo clothes are mostly vintage tees and sweetshirts that have been around for a while, like 20 years or so, with tight straight leged pants. i hope this clears up your emo confuzionnn! lol! ^_^ lmao |

I know what Emo is because all of my friends are emo so here's the answer
1. Tight pants 2. Tight T- shrits, fav band t-shirts 3. Horny rimmed glasses 4. They try to make their hair wave across their face 5. They put eyeliner on 6. Drainpipes 7. Plastic jewellery 8. Wristbands 9. Their hair has to be dye black, neon, or bright blond and sometimes mixed in with other colors to 1o. Panited their toe nails 11. Make up on their face 12. They start shaving their legs 13. Their dressing in drags , They call it freedom of experashen (I don't think I spell that right) 14. Most just say their a fag because thoses chicks look like s because emo is one below terunvestit 15. Their dark sensitive, and low self a esteem 16. The way they dress make every day seem like holloween 17. They have no real problems but they like to make believe 18. They write suicide notes 19. Soaking and writing poetry are my hobies 20. They play guatiar and write 21. Sometimes its hard to tell emos apart because they all look alike 22. Emos look like punks 23. They all lisen to rock music 24. They mostly have monogomy 25. They wear long sleved striped gloves 26. Sometime they have chanis hanging from there geans 27. They hate fakes 28. They always have broken hearts 29. They cut them self 30. They like going to conserts and lising to rock bands 31. Most of them like drawing And a lot of more I can't think of right now |
