    I am on disability do I still need to file taxs at the end of the year

    It depends.

    Disability payments from a policy which you purchased with your own money are tax-free. Also, Social Security Disability is also tax-free if it is your ONLY income source.

    However, if the disability is from a policy or program from your employer, then the payments are subject to both federal and state income taxes.
