    Harbor breeze fan connection problem
The harbor breeze fan I purchased has only one white and one black wire for connection. There is a third black wire taped off. I want to connect to an existing wire box containing a white, black, red and green wire. I need the fan and light kit to operate independently as did the fixture I removed. Any answers to the proper connection

The instuctions say nothing regarding the taped off wire. They only instruct you to install the fan with the existing black and white connection. I presume this is the third wire that operates the fan motor should you choose to independently operate from a light switch

This is how most fans are, but the fan wire is usually black and the light wire is blue.
Like I said, I have never seen a taped up wire.
Sorry I cannot be of more help.
