Yahoo account sending links! Have we been hacked?
My wife has a Yahoo account at home on a laptop. This morning I and others on her address book started receiving emails from the Yahoo account with only a link attached. The link is >Removed<. It is Viagra and Cialis advertisements. These were sent while we were sleeping and while she was at work today. Has she been hacked? Any ideas? Thanks!

Let's see - people in your wife's address book are receiving emails sent from her account but she didn't send them?

Yes, my guess would be that she's been hacked.

If you have been hijacked the first thing you should do is reboot into safemode with networking and do all the spyware/malware/virus scans you can to remove any sort of keyloggers/trojans/virus/spyware on your system that might be allowing those hijackers to see your password. After that is done you need change your email password/secret question to keep them from getting back in. Chances are they already have your address book and have those emails linked with your email address what that means is they can spoof your email address to make it look like it came from you and send to everybody in your address book. But first things first you need to clean your system and change your password. Because they got your address book some how meaning you probably have a virus/keylogger.

Her Yahoo account has probably not been hijacked, but she probably has a virus that caused the e-mails to be sent out. She does need to change her passwords and security question immediately.

Yes, it is common for a virus to come in and send out emails to everyone in your email address book.
