Need some feedback on possibly aborting puppys? Good or bad?
My 11 month old mini weenie and my beloved best friend might be pregnant? I understand back yard breeding is not welcomed and I was falsely led to believe it was "better" for her to have at least one heat ( I have since found out it would have been better to do it as early as possible) she's are only dog and we kept a watch on her and a diaper so she could stay inside and mostly at my bf's house that has a block wall so there would be no other chance of a dog coming in.. we did not.. repeat did not want this to happen. Iam still not sure how it has.. her nipples are bigger and her heat ended about 2 weeks ago.. is this normal at all? We went to the dog park ( after her heat of course) and she seemed a little more aggressive with other dogs which is not like her at all.. I love her personality and do not want it to change.. I have heard her personality will forever change if she has a litter? I want what's best for her and if she is in fact pregnant by some weird chance I have no idea what the other dog is.. Is there any known complications of aborting these puppies? If the other dog was bigger will she not be able to give birth to these other puppys? Iam going to the vet as soon as tomaroo morning but just wanted to hear what others have to say..

Seeing as you don't know what size the other dog is, this pregnancy could possibly kill her. So yes, in this situation, I would most definitely do a spay/abort.
Her personality should not change if she does have puppy's, but you should be prepared to have extra funds on hand in case of an emergency c section and be prepared to possibly not only loose mom but all pups as well.

Do an ultrasound first.
If she's not pregnant, get her spayed immediately.. If she is pregnant.. Ugh.. I'm not one to end life. It is completely up to you. Pregnancy spays are no harder on them then a regular spay. If she is pregnant, get her spayed immediately. The reason I say this is because if you allow her to get really pregnant, her hormones will change and she will be "settling" down for these babies to come. Aborting in final term pregnancy (I think) causes dogs to become emotionally unstable and depressed. By unstable, I don't mean aggressive, but more "not like your dog".
Heat cycles alone can cause dogs to have a temperament change. It has been known to happen, but its not very common. Spaying your dog will help bring her hormones down and level out. She will become more laid back... you'll get your dog back.
If she is pregnant, and you do allow them to be born.. even if their mutts, be responsible. Give them a good start in life. Give them the much needed parvo shot and make sure they don't leave mom until their at the very least 8wks. Just because they could be mutts doesn't give the excuse that they shoudnt be placed into good loving homes.
Good luck in your decisions.

I agree with you Lucky, but seeing as she has no idea what size the male could have been, this is potentially deadly to mom and pups. Imagine a GSD pups with a doxie? Yes it can happen. We have a half Chiuauah and half GSD at the shelter (mom is GSD). OOOOOOGLY dog :D Where there is a will there is a way...

OP, you aren't a backyard breeder, you didn't do this on purpose and sadly, accidents happen, otherwise we need insurance. ;)
I agree with Bella, the best thing you could do is abort these puppies, it's simply too big a risk without knowing what breed the dad was. You don't want to end up losing your dog. It's better to end lives that aren't yet formed than loose all the puppies and the mom to boot.
Let us know what the vet says and what you decide to do. No matter what, I wish you all the best. :)

Thankfully I went to the vet today and the vet told me she did not think she was pregnant.. if she was to be pregnant she would only be five days.. she said we could spay her today and shell be home the next morning : ) I was still worried because she did not speak much english at all.. and I think she got confused about when her heat ended but thankfully when I called to check on her.. the receptionist said she had done fine and she was not pregnant. I thought about it most of last night (without sleep) and just could not bring myself to let her puppies just be brushed away.. but everything came back fine thankfully and no puppies to begin with : ) shell be here and waiting for her is a new toy and blanket and charm for her collar : ) thank so much for your help everyone
