The hands will first be aligned just before 6:33. Here's how to calculate: The distance that the minute hand travels in x minutes is x/60 of a rotation. In that same time the hour hand moves x/(12*60) of a full rotation. Since the hour hand starts a half rotation ahead, they align when: Hour hand = Minute hand 1/2 + x/(12*60) = x/60. Solve for x, and you'll find it's 32 minutes plus a bit, so convert that extra bit to seconds. |
