    Are there any more parenthesis anywhere? Just looks a little weird to me.

    Square everything that can be squared first.

    Do multiplication where possible.

    Then do the remaining operations from left to right.

    -(-4)^2 * 2 -3 - 1^2
    = -(16)* 2 -3 - 1
    = (-(16) * 2) - 4
    =(-32) - 4
    = -36
