C and I had been dating for a year now. We were best friends before we fell in love, I truly believe that this is the real thing. Last Monday night we had a big fight and I think I pushed him to the limit because he said, "I don't think I can do this anymore". But as we talked it out he forgave me.
However, on the following night I felt that something was wrong, so I asked him. He said he wasn't sure what to do anymore.
Wednesday we talked it out and I wrote this whole speech about how I've opened my eyes and I can change and that we can work through this like everything else. :( But he gave three reasons;
1. That he needed space.
2. That he feels like he's been bottling stuff up because he's scared to hurt me.
3. He's going to be moving away in 1.5 years so "we're just kidding ourselves"

The worst part of this is that he says he still loves me. I keep telling him that 1.5 years is ages away. He hadn't even thought about or consider what life would be like post break up. When he did this he was going to bali on Sunday. During the 4 days we acted like normal as we decided to stay bestfriends. It felt like nothing had changed except we didn't kiss anymore. He's now been in bali for 7 days and is coming back in 3/4 days, on Thursday.

I really hope that the 10 days away in Bali will clear his mind, and give him enough space. But I'm so worried. I truly believe that we can work on this and change the relationship. Just two days before the breakup we were the happiest people alive. Whatever he is blanketing I know we can work through :(
Please help me. I don't want to lose the love of my life.

Hi OP I feel that you will have to wait until your b/f comes back, however it would seem he now wants out of the relationship, and whatever has been on his mind or any doubts he was having were confirmed when you and he argued.

I think he's been having some doubts for some time or that's how it appears.

Maybe when he gets back, you and he will talk it through, and come to some decision. Until then you won't know what he wants other than that he's told you he doesn't think he can do this anymore.

It would appear he wants out though...

Thanks for the reply. All that's really confusing is that if he really wants out, why, before he left for Bali, did he still say that he wanted to hang out with me nearly every day? He also says that he'll still text me goodnight. He still says I love you.
He himself admitted that he still wants me in his life. What is your take on this?
I feel strongly that we can work through this.
