When incoporating images to a powerpoint presentation using the photo album icon, the images are not sharp although my original images are... can I do something differerent to fix this?

Sounds like you are inserting a thumb nail instead of the actual image.
Try this: Unser the "Insert" menu select "Picture" and browse to the original picture file on your hard drive. If you select a higher resolution photo it should display properly.
