My bike over-revs on acceleration before the power is used.
Hi, I ride a Honda VTR250 and recently dropped the bike. I snapped my clutch lever so I had to replace it and retighten my clutch cable.

Now when I ride, my bike seems to over-rev with normal throttle turning, then the revs drop and I get my usable power. This happens each time I'm in a new gear and I try to accelerate.
My engine breaking also seems delayed when I change down.

Any suggestions? Does it have anything to do with my clutch cable or is it likely to be a different issue?

It sounds like your clurch is slipping, Check to make sure you have the proper play in the clutch cable and at the lever. You want about 1/4" of play at the lever where it meets the lever bracket.
