We have succeeded in removing our old all-in-one tub/shower unit that was cracking on the bottom (yes, over the years we have tried various repair kits to fix, but the crack kept returning). Ready now to install a new tub -- but the location of the drain is 15" from the stud wall. Cannot find a single tub model that needs the drain at exactly 15". Some at 14.5", some at 16", etc.

The bathroom does sit above the crawl space, so I have full access to the drain pipes, but it seems a shame to rip it all apart just to move it a half inch? Is there some nifty little flexible extension fitting or something to make this easier?

Your trap under the tub is moveable. You can't use a 14.5" tub but any 15" or longer will work. You may need to replace the tube that connects the trap to the main but they are inexpensive
