Textured concrete
A friend on the East Coast has a textured brick-pattern concrete sidewalk and a stone-patterned concrete patio. I love the designs!
Does anyone here have any experience laying this sort of thing or having it laid? What about ease of snow and ice removal, abrasion from salt, and general upkeep?
I have a 10-12 foot x 3-foot walkway from my front porch to my driveway. The flagstones that pave it are old and breaking apart. Rather than having someone put in just a plain ol' boring gray concrete sidewalk, I was thinking of going with a textured concrete walkway, if I can find someone in my area who does this sort of thing.
Also, any ideas on cost?

Here is a website about textured concrete. Yes, I have one but it was here when I bought the house, and had been installed years prior. It is in a brick pattern and quite lovely. No general up-keep, snow plow comes in and does the driveway in the winter and no ill effects. Sorry, don't know how much it cost.

Thanks, tick. That's the company that did my friend's walkway and patio. I can find companies around here for laying concrete but not textured concrete. There are several ritzy suburbs near me whose residents must want something like this, so there must be companies that do this. I'll start my phone calls on Monday.

Good deal, pay them to do it. This is no DIY project, stamp alone runs $1500 but can be rented. The company that did mine actually rents the stamps from another company. You can get many colors too.

Can you give me a ballpark figure for a walkway that's 3' x 12'?

No but the guy who will answer the phone 2 miles away can. I can't quote prices not know about the site and the cost of local materials. Likely around $700

That's what my NJ friend remembered paying for a walkway about the same length. Yes, I'll give the business owner a call. Got to keep the U.S. economy going, you know.

I should have known, 'stamped' was the terminology. When they re-surfaced the streets in our old town, to carry on the heritage appearance, I watched them stamp the red concrete to look like cobblestones. Wonderful job. Still looks good after 8 years.
