When I have PMS and then my period, I have two medications I usually take. During PMS, my main symptom is irritability, so I take Pamprin which helps alleviate that. However, when my period comes, I get bad stomach cramps. Although the box and bottle of Pamprin says it is supposed to relieve all symptoms from irritability to bloating to cramps, it generally does not relieve the cramps. I usually take CVS brand Naproxen Sodium, the generic brand of Aleve, for the cramps. However, that does not relieve the irritability and I need something that relieves both. When I take each one, the dosage is two pills and I do not use the two medications at the same time.

My question is, if I take one Pamprin and one Aleve at the same time, instead of two of one or two of the other, will that help or could I possibly have a bad reaction? I guess I'm asking if the two are compatible taken together.

I am not sure of the exact answer to the question, it would be best to ask your pharmacist of this.

However, I will say that for certain ingredients you could very well be over-medicating. For instance if they both have acetominophin, you are over-medicating, since the dosage is for one OTC, not both.

If you are having these problems there are many scripts that can alleviate your problems, all of them, with one dose. The old standard was Valium, while I understand this is not used for these symptoms these days, it is just an example.

In this case, however, the ingredients are not the same and may be safe, but it is best to discuss this with your pharmacist to be sure.
