    Cover electric panel on drywall
The contractor who finished my basement did a mistake by building drywall to cover the electric panel but installed the panel cover on the drywall rather than sealing the electric panel itself. So the house inspector came in and raised a safety concern that there is a gap between the drywall and the electric panel when the panel cover is opened. This is because there is a gap between the drywall and the penel itself, and the wires are reachable and feasible. So I hired a electrican guy to cut the drywall around the panel cover and pushed the cover panel toward to the panel to "flush". This addressed the safety issue but left my drywall as a hole around the electric panel cover. I need suggestion to seal the gap between the drywall and the pael cover. Should I fix it by framing the drywall around the panel cover, or anything else? Please advise.

Build 1 by frame around box and trim it with same trim u have in rest of basement. Be sure to leave space so cover can be easily removed and to add circuits if needed. Install a 3/4" plywood door with magnet lock/latch.

This will give a finished look to area.

    Good luck
