    After the recent rains my well water is dirty
    My family has lived on this property almost 6 yrs and I have never seen the water dirty but lately we have had large amount of rains and for about a week now the well water has a yellow tint to it,almost like urin :( will the well water clear up on its own do I need to treat it ? Is my well bad? Please help!!

    It will likely clear up on its own. I'd drink bottled water until it did. You might want to chlorinate the well. The site below describes how its done. Personally, since I don't know how deep my well is and how much water reserve it has, I just pour a half-gallon of bleach in during the evening, let it sit overnight, then start water coming out the water hose in the morning. I let it run until there is no bleach smell, which can be an hour or so. I also let it run through the house plumbing for a few minutes.

    One area I differ with this site is the idea of running water into the well to wash the bleach down after pouring it in. I might would run a gallon or two, but absolutely no more than that. Last time I did it, it washed dirt from the side of the well into the water. I thought it would never clear up.
