Taking dog to vet in two days. But.
Long story short a tiny dog shows up on my door step in freezing weather. I took it in, got it warm, clean and fed and made contact with a local animal RESCUE that fosters dogs until they can be placed.

The dog will be going to the vet in two days but I'm concerned about the health of my dog already in the house. When the little dog went potty there was evidence of worms in the stool. (What kind? I don't know that's why we are going to the Vet) For the time I've been keeping them segregated but they are driving me nuts with the whining and wanting to play. Should I let them? Or is it best to keep them segregated until the new one is looked at?

My dog is up to date on their shots, visits, heartworm etc...

I'd keep them apart. Can you get in to the vet earlier? Tell them you found worms in the stool, that should make them up your appointment.

Poor little guy. It's so wonderful that you took him in. Who knows, maybe you'll end up with a permanent addition? ;)

Two days is the soonest. : ( The rescue is covering the bills and I can't get work scheduled any different.

The little lady has a good appetite, drinks water and has been running around her area happy as can be... if she was lethargic or something I would insist.

This one has got to find another family though. As sweet as she is my current dog is still a puppy and I don't think I could manage 2 babies. Just trying to do what's best for the pups! Thanks for the advice!

I agree with Alty, I would keep them separated.
Even though your pup has had his shots there's still a small chance he could catch something... plus he might end up with the worms himself.

I love hearing happy stories of people taking dogs in and caring for them. I hope this little guy finds a good home :)

You should be able to go into the vet and get the worm treatment, just tell them the approx. weight. It probably wouldn't hurt to get your dog a dose as well. I guess if the shelter is footing the cost, then you may not want to spend the extra money. De wormer is fairly in expensive. I like to use revolution. For my dog who weighs 120 lbs it costs about $10 for one pill.
