Can I use a tankless water heater on an Apollo style heating system?
    Hello,

I currently have an Apollo-style heating system (hydro heat). With it, I have an unsightly 80 gallon gas hot water heater in a closet in my living room. It's getting a little older and I'm starting to think about replacing it. Will I be able to upgrade the water heater to a tankless model and still be able to use the hydro heat until I can upgrade to a heat pump?

I've read in a few places online that a tankless model + a small expansion tank might work, but I'm not too positive if I have the style heating system that these articles talk about.

My house is approximately 1250 sq feet.

I plan on having this professionally installed. I guess I'm just wondering if this setup will work with my current configuration. Thank you!

A tankless unit will work just like any other water heater if installed correctly. I have what you are calling a (hydro heat) system that has worked well since about 1980. My unit is a tankless instant style heater also. I suggest you check to find someone local that KNOWS about tankless heaters and your style system. See the article below for contractor info since the tankless will need to be sized correctly.

We are getting ready to bulid a 5000 sq ft home, and I'm getting advice from friends to do floor heating instead of usual blowing air heating, and to install tankless water heaters instead of regular water heaters. Old tankless hot water system [ 3 Answers ]

Our house has an EverHot tankless hot water system that feeds off our oil-fired boiler (we have forced hot water baseboards). It looks like an older type of hot water system to me, but maybe not. Tankless heater for Radiant floor heating [ 1 Answers ]

I read somewhere that you can't use a tankless water heater for hydronic floor heating. Yet the tankless heater I purchased (Nortis or something like that), specifically states that as one of the applications. Is there anything I need to be concerned about?
