    How is ethane extracted from crude oil?
    I am doing a project on Polyethylene which comes from ethane. I need to find out the ethane bit of it all.

    Polyethylene is made by polymerizing ethene. Ethane is a gas, while crude oil is a liquid. We usually separate them by fractional distillation.

    Ethene is easily obtained by steam cracking hydrocarbon molecules including ethane.
