    Bryant 310aav
My Bryant 310aav quit working. It is throwing a code#34(failure to ignite) so I pullled the hot surface igniter out, and spotted a small crack in it. I am assuming that this piece is like an oven burner, and should get extremely hot when the furnace tries to light, so I kept it plugged in, and restarted the furnace. While I did get a shock when I accidentally touched it at the crack. It did not get hot.
Am I correct about how this piece works? And is that a reasonable first part to replace?
Pretty cold here. Could use some heat.
    Thanks

Yep time for a new ignitor. DO NOT touch the dark grey part with your hand when you install the new one since the acid on your hand can cause a permature failure. I also never suggest you touch one when the unit is fired up since a very severe burn will take place.
