    Modern Day Sexuality
Ok, I wasn't sure whether this is the right place to put it, but this is indeed a discussion, not a question. So I guess I haven't strayed too far
Has anyone noticed the bahaviour of teenage females in the last say... decade or maybe less
It seems like more and more girls are becoming bi-sexual or lesbian. Don't get me wrong this is not a discussion of it being wrong, I've got nothing against sexual preferences, I've just noticed that girls in particular are being more so involved with each other
Even straight girls have a tendency to dabble in such things
Young girls are learning to kiss on each other... slightly older girls are discovering they're sexuality with a group of they're girlfriends, some lose interest or snap out of it, but an increasing number of them don't
Is the female population destined to become a-sexual?
Men don't seem to be the same as girls... girls are always hugging and hanging of each other and what not, where as guys have always been... dare I say it, men.
All guys have that block where they won't hug a guy for too long comfortably (straight men I mean) but girls don't
No guys that I have ever met or heard of have learnt to kiss or anything like that on they're best mate from next door.
Its just the girls who do it...
Will it continue forever? Or will times quickly change and then change back..
Give me your thoughts on the subject
Oh and just a footnote - by no means was this post meant to be sexist or homophobic, I am very sorry if anybody is offended by what I've discussed, it was not my intention

Yea, on the surface there seems to be more lesibans then gay men, however I will admit, there there are quite a few "in the closet" men out there, so it probobly balances out.

Im not going to sit here and get into a political and moral debate on this issue, how someone decides to live their life is their problem, not mine.

I know what you are saying, and I'll bet you a silver dollar this turns into a debate over the morality of the issue. To which my official stand will be "neutural".

One big difference is that now these issues are communicated much more openly than every before. Those "girlfirend sleepovers" of previous generations held similar opportunities for "experimentation" for teen girls.

There's also a social advantage that young girls get by declaring themselves "lez" or "bi". Such statements can leveraged that to either dismiss guys that the girl doesn't want to deal with, or turned into "hot chick" behaviour to get attention from guys that they are interested in. It can be used as part of an "accept me as I am" argument or a "repect my difference" kind of defiance.

I subscribe to the theory that all women have some degree of attraction to other women in them. As young girls discover this about themselves, it's completely natural behaviour for them to try and "discover themselves" with each other as they become women.

As for men - Well, we spend our teenage years watchig porn. That's why we're so messed up... and why we confuse young girls so much with what we want from them... LOL!

The constant display of "Girls Gone Wild" advertisements is one way in which lesbianism is put forth as acceptable. Once it's viewed as socially acceptable then engaging in the publicized activity becomes far easier. Also, you have popular figures such as Madonna and Brittany Spears enthusiastically doing their part by French kissing one another on
National television. Additionally, porno films that had once been mostly concerned with heterosexual behavior shifted direction and began portraying women on women sex. Add to this the traditionally masculine role women play in pictures and it becomes clear that today's society is a strong contributing factor.

Modern day sexuality my arse! Does the town of Sodom ring a bell! How about Gommorah? The plan to bring every deviate sexual lifestyle out into the mainstream is coming along quite swimmingly, wouldn't you say. Hum, wonder who is behind it? I don't know, Im too busy trying to find a TV show in which two guys are not kissing! If I watch The Beverly Hillbillies and Jethro and Jed are smootchin, I'm going to puke!
Wait a minute, I got it. I think most of them big Hollywood Moguls are gay. Well. I'll be, that must be who keeps bringing this crap out of the closet and into my livingroom in front of the grand kids.
I really do not care if you are gay, just don't push it on me and mine. Is that really too much to ask? :o

I can definitely agree that lesbianism is a very advertised feature in the mans realm of entertainment. I'm 19, I grew up in the era of bisexual girls and the lesbian statement. I agree that some girls can use the lesbian act to ward off unwated boys and to attract ones more desirable. It can be used as a rebelious act towards parents and schools, as both are from an older generation and shun on that sort of thing. When I was in high school I admit I did use the bisexual act to get myself noticed. However I did seriously date another girl, and to this day I am openly bisexual, but I will not ever date another female. I'm sure most of my comrades in the locker room have come to the same conclusion. I also think that most of today's female teenage gay/bi's will go back to straight. In today's society the same sex relationships are much more accepted (not to mention promoted.) And for a teenager with raging horomones, its something new to try and can be used in many different ways. My mom was always cool about it even though she didn't like it, she used to joke "At least you won't come home pregnant!" I'm not sure how the next generation is going to go, but I can guess that it won't change much from today's philosophy. From a guy's perspective: a woman is beautiful the only thing better than a woman, is two! I think that the gay revolution is here to stay and teenagers from both sexes will experiment with sexuality, the only thing that will change is how it is accepted into society.

Of course such behavior has existed before our times. But the question asked was why there seems to be an increase going on TODAY. My answer was socialization. Ever hear of socialization? It's society's way of inculcating mores and values into their citizens via the institutions such as family, religion, and state financed educational systems. That's why we have cultural differences where what is acceptable to someone else, such as eating monkey meat, might not be acceptable to you.

    BTW
Those two cities are good examples of how societies can definitely be geared to encourage certain behaviors. A far better example than Sodom and Gommorah, however, is ancient Greece.

No apology necessary - it's a great topic. I tend to think it behooves me to look at patterns and directions from a big picture viewpoint -- what may seem like a strange kind of thunderstorm can be part of an overall weather pattern of much larger proportions. I believe all sorts of "labels" are being challenged and redefined, not just the sexual ones. I also believe that compartmental thinking, i.e. you are gay, I am hetrosexual it will eventually be replaced with somewhere on the continuum thinking, i.e. you tend more toward same sex, I tend more toward opposite sex. And not just with sexual oreintation either. Again all sorts of "labels". It's a long time off yet but I still contend that with our eyes closed we all tend to be bisexual (just a joke, peeps! LOL). It will take reducing a lot of fear to get there but fortunately we have information at our disposal like never before and if there is anything capable of challenging and transforming fear it is massive amounts of information.
