My dog is a 11 year old peek-a-poo and she's been acting drunk, what's wrong?
My dog walks off balance, she can't hardly keep her eyes open, she really acts drunk!! She has lost a lot of weight and her appetite went from eating everything to not eating well at all. This has been going on for about 2 months and she's not getting better. I took her to the vet and they said she doesn't have any type of worms, and all of her organs are working great, can anyone help me figure out what's wrong with my dog!? She looks miserable, and it would break my heart to know she's in pain or very sick and I didn't do something about it!

My first thought was that it could be some sort of neurological problem.
My mother has a poodle with quite a few strange habits and the vet put it down to just a brain disorder, it's not life threatening, just makes her a little 'different'

Have you had the vet check her ears?
Ear infections or problems can cause them to be a little off balance and both pekes and poodles are prone to ear infections

I don't understand, every time I try to agree with you Shaz, it never shows up?
Anyway My 10 yer old am staff had an ear infection and it was like a 120 lbs drunken teen aged boy walking through the house...
Does your dog stagger to one side or is he all over the place?
Could be eliptod cramping as well.
Does he stretch really exaggerated? Is he really slow when he walks? Does he stagger all the time or just sometimes?
Either way, it really is something you should have checked out by a vet.

She's all over the place, and she walks into walls and just stands there until I pick her up and move her. The vet pretty much told me she didn't know what was wrong with her. They checked for all types of worms and all her organs are working great... She eats, but has lost a significant amount of weightand it seems like she's confused. Sometimes when we first wake up in the morning, she walks with her head down, her face actually drags on the ground. Thank you all for replying, and keep the answersw coming! I appreciate all advice.

Has your vet checked for CECS? Have they done any x-rays? Checked for brain or pancreas tumurs? Have they done any blood tests to screen for toxins?
Are you in an area where Lyme disease could be a factor and have they tested for it? Have they checked for Intervertebral disk disease which is very common in Pekingese and other small breeds. Have they checked his central nervous system?
Other then that I am out if ideas!

    Canine Epileptoid Cramping Syndrome

A lot of people think that CECS is just for terriers, but I have seen 2 mixed breed dogs with this syndrom.
It's worth it to check out if your vet can't find anything. Usually dietary changes help and no other symptoms are reported.
