I am from Europe, I am learning English with ESL I am learning about American Quotation, but some of them I don't understand, I don't know much when it come to American Quotation, because they say something and they mean something else with that, and I don't get it. Can some one help Please?

1) Henry Ford once said, “You can’t build a reputation on what you are going to do.” What do you think Henry was trying to get across from the above quote? Do you agree with what he is saying? Why or why not?


2) Henry Miller once said, “Example moves the world more than doctrine.” Do you think this statement by Henry is true of false? If you believe it is true give some examples to support your answer. If you think it is false, give examples to support your answer.


3) Henry Miller once said, “No man is great enough or wise enough for any of us to surrender our destiny to. The only way in which anyone can lead us is to restore to us the belief in our own guidance”. What is Henry trying to say here?


4) Woodrow Wilson once said, “A man is not as big as his belief in himself; he is as big as the number of persons who believe in him.” What message is Woodrow trying to get across?

Just do it. Don't just talk about it. True reputation is built on your action, not on what you talk about. I believe this generally is true.

I think he meant...

People follow what they see, not what they are told. This is almost identicall saying as one above. I believe this is generally true as well.
