    Leaky roof!
Hi, We purchased our home 5 years ago. We had our old roof replaced 4 yrs ago. The roofer had to come back 2 additional times that same year to repair "more leaks". Recently we discovered several more leaks found up in the attic and were wondering if homeowners insurance would cover the cost of repairs. We have maintained the house and have never filed any claim before. We are no longer under warranty as the last roof for only guaranteed for 1 year! We have our reciepts from the last roof which cost in excess of 5,000 dollars! Please help!

If your roofer had to come back twice to repair, it doesn't sound like he did it right the first time !

Your homeowners won't cover repairs to your roof, the damage would have to be from a tree falling, etc. before they would consider paying out.

Your homeowner's doesn't cover incidents like this but even though the warranty on the roof has expired, it may be worth a try to call the roofing company and ask them to come back out to do the repairs. They may be willing since you'd already called them back out twice in such a short period (or at least they may discount your repairs). They may do it as a courtesy to avoid a bad reputation. Remember the squeaky wheel gets the oil.

I had my roof done two years ago for $5000. On a bungalow. The roof is to last another 25 years. I have never had to call them back and don't expect too. It is a small town. If the work was done haphazard on the OP's roof and she had to even call them back once for leakage, then they should be reported to the Better Business Bureau (if they still exist) or their equivalent. Good money is wasted and should not be.

    Did they come recommended ?
