    Penile discomfort help
Me and my wife have been having sex for over a year and a half now and only recently I have felt discomfort with my penis. It started after we had sex during her menstruation. I came inside and forgot to wash up. A few days later, I felt a burning sensation during urination. Soon after there was a red sore on the tip of my penis and a yellow discharge with no apparent smell. I did a little research and I would not think it could be a STD because she and I have never had any other sexual contact with anyone else during our marriage. Also, if it were a STD I would believe that the symptoms would have come much earlier. I assume that it is a yeast infection, I am actually surprised that there are a lot of other men having this complication. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

    Go to the doctor.
If it is a yeast infection you need to get it taken care of.
I would suggest you use condoms.

It could be a yeast infection or a UTI, urinary tract infection, both of which need medical attention.

    Please make a doctor's appointment.

Razorblade, would you like to tell us the truth? On this post you say she's your wife - while on "Men's Health" you say she's your girlfriend. If you have both a wife and a "GF" - I suspect you are only fooling yourself and likely have developed an STD. Do yourself, your wife and GF a favor and get tested. Some STD's can cause severe complications for men and women if left untreated... share the results of your tests with your sex partners - all of them...

Aha, great catch J!! I did not see, or notice, the two different posts.

Sounds very much like a STD though. Untreated in the gal, if syphillis could lead to brain damage.

    J_9,

Brain damage and - fatal aortic aneurysms, tabes dorsalis, blindness, gummas, etc. etc. etc. - not to mention it could be passed on to any unborn children in utero (congenital syphilis). Gonorrhea can lead to permanent infertility or greatly increase the female's risk for ectopic pregnancy. (I really feel like washing my hands after reading this guy's posts... )

Thank you for the info J. I start "sexuality" next week and STDs will be a major topic!!

I think you are on target about "washing hands" Some people here just like to "play" with us, and I believe this is what this is.

I will check in frequently since I moderate this board, but that will be the limit to my actions here.

P.S. I wish you were in my study group. I could use someone knowledgeable like you!!

Sorry for the confusion. She is not in fact my wife, but I do consider as she is. I just stated as that as to be apparent to how our relationship is or sexuality. I have never had any other partner ever since we have been together and neither has she. We have been together for over a year now and only now have complications arisen. Again I apologize for the confusion. By the way, it would be nice if you didn't assumed that I am lying to myself. She also told me she has never had a yeast infection or any vaginal discomfort during our relationship. Is it still possible to get a yeast infection? Now I think it's a uti. I have had a uti before, but it's nothing like the symptoms I have right now. And if it were an std, it must have a really long incubation period just to pop it's ugly head right now. We'll see though. I will be going to the doctor as soon as I get a break in school.

Yeast infections can start at any time - even with no past history - but that's beside the point. You first "think" it's a yeast infection, now you "think" it's a UTI. What I "think" is that you actually don't know what it is - neither do I - that's why we all "think" you should go to the doctor as soon as possible. Whatever it is, the longer you wait, the more difficult it may be to treat.

JGJ is correct. You need to go now, rather than when you have a break in school. If it is a UTI it could lead to bladder and/or kidney problems. If it is an STD then it could have permanent or long lasting effects.
