    Throbbing kidney pain
I recently started having painful urination. The painful urination went away, and then I started to have throbbing, pulsating pain in my flank area. The flank pain switches from the right side, to the left side. Sometimes it affects both sides. (The pain when I urinate comes and goes.) If I have to go the to the bathroom, my flank hurts. After I urinate, my flank really hurts. I often feel tired, and weak, and I have no appetite. Sometimes the flank pain extends into my abdomen. Walking through the store, or being on my feet for over an hr or so, makes the flank pain worse. I get headaches, and just feel ill. I went to the doctor, and all he did was a urine test, which he said was fine.(The dr said there was some blood in my urine, but he thought it was because I had just ended my period.) The doctor was really rude to me, and made me cry. He didn't order anymore tests, or suggest anything. I am a female in my late twenties. I have an under active thyroid (I am not overweight), and I have a heart disease (WPW). Both of which, are under control.(the only medicine that I am on, is for my thyroid) Do you have any idea what could be wrong with me?

    Mstypyz:

Sorry you have to put up with an immature poster on your first post. h81225 has been reported.

Your post sounds like your crying and probably rightfully so. Check this link out and see if there is a possibility that kidney stones fit. Kidney Stones in Adults

They will be very painful until they pass. We can't diagnose you and I'm surprised that wasn't suggested. What time frame are we looking at now? A week?

If it's urinary, cranberry juice can't hurt.

I think the usual dx is to identify non-invaseively and gauge their size and generally let them pass on their own. If they are large, they can be broken up with ultrasonics.

I'd recommend a visit with an urgent care facility, not necessarily an emergency room. Fees are about the same as specialists, typically.

Too bad you got a crummy welcome. Welcome to AMHD,
