A few years ago, I was diagnosed with sciatica. Even though I wasn't told which type of sciatica I have, I can narrow it down. It was caused by a trauma, so it's not degenerative or genetic.

Every so often, it acts up. If I bend wrong or in the wrong direction or pick something up wrong or spend a lot of time sitting or lying on hard surfaces or sometimes for no discernible reason at all, I end up in pain. My lower back ends up hurting when I the muscles contract.

What I want to know, is does anyone have any suggestions on how to counteract this pain? Heat does nothing. Cold does nothing. Taking a couple aspirin does nothing. Are there any treatments I haven't thought of?

I can't afford to go to a doctor or pay for prescription pain meds. If that turns out to be the only solution, then I'll have to just keep living with periodic pain and restricted mobility.

It may go away again, but mine got to the point that it stayed. I had spianal fussion in 96. Anyway I do have problems with my spine and water therapy could help, maybe. It takes all the weight off your spine and lets dit relax. Another thing try putting yoiur legs on the bed from the knees down and lay on the floor this can give your spine more room too. Try looking up Dr.Trester site. It tells you which parts of spine affect which parts of your body. You might find it interesting. Goo Luck!
